Professional context

The settings where my work finds meaning.

01

Government bodies, public and educational institutions, and international organisations.

02

NGOs and foundations working in social-impact sectors.

03

Executive decision-making settings

Board meetings, strategic negotiations and leadership communications.

Why it matters

Human interpretation isn’t nostalgia. It’s judgement.

Clarity when the stakes are high

In sensitive negotiations and critical decisions, every nuance counts. Professional interpretation makes sure nothing is lost, misread or taken for granted.

Transmitting intention, not just content

Words carry meaning, but intention carries weight. Beyond accuracy, the goal is to preserve purpose, tone and diplomatic intent.

Technology at the service of professional judgement

AI is used only for preparation: terminology research and document review. Never for live interpretation. No recordings. No reuse of your content.

My story

I didn’t come to the booth for the languages. I came for the people.

“An interpreter doesn’t stay silent. They speak.”

A supervisor told me that in a courtroom, at the very beginning. Over the years I understood she wasn’t only talking about speaking—she was talking about listening better. Hearing what is said, and also what isn’t: the tone, the intention, the tension in the room, the silences.

Before the booth I studied sociology and worked as a photojournalist—two ways of reading what happens between people, beyond words. I’ve spent more than twelve years interpreting where every sentence carries weight: courtrooms, public-health conferences, negotiations where a single word changes a decision.

That’s why I don’t interpret languages. I interpret people, intention and context—so everyone in the room feels understood, not just translated.

Because words are not enough. Intention must be transmitted.

How it works

A partnership in stages.

01

Initial consultation

Understanding your context, format, duration and technical requirements. This stage produces recommendations on equipment setup and the appropriate in-person or remote configuration, to ensure sustained quality and optimal working conditions.

02

Pre-event preparation

Studying the agenda, building a tailored terminology glossary and briefing with your team. This is the stage where the difference between good and excellent interpretation is built.

03

Live interpretation

On the day, from an on-site booth or a certified remote platform (KUDO, Interprefy, Zoom). Technical setup verified, with a booth partner whenever the day requires it.

04

Close-out and report

A short written report at the end of the event: consolidated terminology, context observations and anything useful for future engagements.

What clients say

The voices of the organisations that trust me.

I’ve worked with Sofía in different files where she has been the interpreter for English, French and Spanish; I can attest to her professionalism and fast interpretation skills even during very long meetings. Sofía has shown great focus and management of legal vocabulary in those 3 languages with remarkable ease and confidence. She has also shown great skill and flexibility during videoconferencing by Zoom, Teams and other platforms.

Frequently asked

What people usually ask.

Do you work outside Montréal?+
Yes. On site across Canada (Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Québec) and remotely for international clients through certified platforms. For in-person events outside Quebec, travel is quoted separately.
How much lead time do you need?+
Ideally one to two weeks. That gives time to build a tailored terminology glossary, review reference materials and, if useful, hold a briefing call with your team. Last-minute events are possible but the result benefits from preparation.
How do you handle confidentiality?+
A standard NDA is available and signable at project start. Live interpretation is never recorded or reused. Preparatory materials are deleted at the close of the event, unless explicitly requested otherwise.
Do you work on virtual or hybrid events?+
Yes. Certified platforms: KUDO, Interprefy, Zoom (interpreter mode) and Webex. For hybrid events I recommend a dedicated room technician for interpretation; I can recommend technical partners.
How are rates calculated?+
Simultaneous interpretation is quoted per day (up to 6h of active booth time) or half-day (up to 3h). The price includes one hour of preparation per hour of interpretation. For long days I work in booth with a certified partner.
Do you work in other language combinations?+
My active languages are Spanish, English and French. For combinations with other languages I work in booth with certified AIIC colleagues.
